A vintage tractor run is set to take place through the picturesque Chilterns countryside next weekend in aid of charity.

The 2016 Chiltern Vintage Tractor Charity Run, now in its tenth year, will be raising money for the Bucks branch of the Air Ambulance.

Last year’s run, which featured 65 tractors, raised almost £4,500, taking the total charity contribution over the nine years of the event to more than £27,000.

The event starts at around 9.30am on Sunday May 15 in the south Bucks village of Fingest, ending at the same place.

Organiser Gary Anderson said: “It is very much a family event. A variety of people get involved, it can be anyone from retired farmers to youngsters who have restored the tractors.

“It started out of the blue. Where we live we are surrounded by beautiful countryside so it was a good way for people to use their tractors and raise money for a worthwhile cause.

“I did the first one nine years ago but it has now become an annual event.”

The run’s route will wind its way through some of the county’s most beautiful countryside as it goes from Fingest, through Stokenchurch towards Haddenham and back.

The tractor drivers will stop off at Wycombe Airpark for a lunchtime BBQ along, which will be followed with donated cakes and a raffle.

Mr Anderson stated that period dress is encouraged and that those wishing to arrive early can purchase hot drinks and breakfast rolls from 7:30am.

“Everyone is so supportive - we are on a bit of a roll for want of a better word,” he added.

“The majority of the run is off road which means there is as little disruption as possible.”
