The girls from Heatherton House School were part of the monarch’s historic visit to Berkhamsted on Friday.

Marissa Bhalsod, Vanessa Hebbron, Millie Absalom and Abigail Barnard - form captains from years one to four - were chosen to attend a special reception which gave them the opportunity to speak to The Queen.

“She was lovely and spoke to all of us,” said Vanessa. “I had been practising my curtsey at home with my mummy and the Queen said she liked my plaits.”

Abigail, who presented Her Majesty with a posy of flowers, said: “I was so excited and nervous.”

The school’s head Debbie Isaachsen said: “The whole school have been preparing for this historic visit for weeks with special history lessons, wonderful artwork creations and even forming the letters ER in our playground on Her Majesty’s birthday.

Bucks Free Press:

“It is the first time a reigning monarch has visited Berkhamsted School and it’s wonderful that Heatherton pupils were able to play such a large role in the celebrations.

“Her Majesty really took the time to speak to every pupil and staff member at the event. It was certainly a very proud day for the school.”

The Queen was visiting the town to mark Berkhamsted School’s 475th anniversary. Heatherton House is part of the Berkhamsted Schools Group.
