CCTV images have been released this afternoon after a spate of graffiti spraying which hit 22 locations across Chesham this month including a war memorial and church sign.

The words "War is not glorious" were sprayed on the town's war memorial with silver paint over the bank holiday weekend and the word 'Satan' appeared on the Christ Church Waterside’s sign.

The town's mayor Peter Hudson branded the attacks - which also saw heart symbols and the word 'love' sprayed on signs and pavements - "disgusting".

Thames Valley Police say they want to speak to the picture person in relation to the incidents.

Sgt James Ellis, of Chesham Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the person in the CCTV footage, as we believe the person may have vital information about the offences.

“I would also like to appeal to businesses or owners of private CCTV to check their footage and contact us if they notice anything suspicious.

“We recognise the strength of feeling within the local community and I would like to reassure everyone that investigative work is continuing and we are taking this seriously.

“We believe the offender is local to Chesham and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact us.”
