A Beaconsfield church is helping to raise funds for UK child trafficking survivors. By holding a ‘Mud Run for Freedom’ this Saturday (May 21). Latimer Minster will be hosting the event in the picturesque grounds of Stampwell Farm, London Road for national charity Sport for Freedom. There will be two courses, an adult course with six fun obstacles spread over a 5k radius and family friendly course (age five and over) with five obstacles set over a 3k radius. Places are still available on the day, £20 for adults and £36 for family ticket (two adults and two children under 16). This Sunday (May 22), to launch the Mayor of Beaconsfield’s charity appeal, the tradition of ‘Beating the Bounds’ is being revived with a modern twist. Celebrating the unity and community of the Town, the Beating will take place symbolically in each of the three main parts of Town, starting at 2pm in the Old Town, moving on to Holtspur for 2.30pm and the New Town for 3pm. The Mayor, Patrick Hogan, has selected Padstones and Rennie Grove Hospice Care as his two chosen charities. Collections will be made for the Appeal and light refreshments available at 3.30pm in aid of the Appeal.

The High Wycombe Chrysanthemum Society is holding a plant sale in Beaconsfield this weekend. The event takes place on Saturday (May 21) from 9.00 am to 2 pm at Council Green, Penn Road. For more information contact Chairman John Marshall on 01296 624538 or 07597 990045.

Iain Rennie Hospice at Home’s annual ‘Care for a Cuppa’ afternoon tea at The Cape Café in Station Road will take place on May 24. All proceeds go to the charity thanks to Mark and Jo Seeby. The Beaconsfield Society’s event, ‘Beaconsfield Now 2016’, showcases not-for-profit organisations and is taking place on the Town Council Green on Saturday June 18 between 11am and 2pm. There will be entertainment from musicians and choirs as well as a bouncy castle and arts and crafts. All welcome from long standing residents to new members of the town.
