Firefighters raced to a suspected lorry blaze on the M40 this morning, but have now calmed fears by confirming it was a false alarm.

Crews raced to the scene after reports of an articulated lorry on fire on the northbound carriageway between junction 1a (M25 interchange) and junction 2 (Beaconsfield).

It was feared that the fire could cause traffic problems for people travelling in the area.

Bucks Fire and Rescue tweeted at 9.58am to say they were on the way to a blaze, but just 15 minutes later confirmed it was a false alarm and the teams were not needed.
