A display of vintage pictures will be on show at Burgers bakery on the Causeway as part of Love Marlow Festival. Marlow Free Press columnist Michael Eagleton has teamed up with the Marlow Society to provide the display of 50 pictures throughout time including a poster from 1855. The showcase includes is an admission badge to the Rowing Club lawn from 1902, when the Regatta fell on the same day as Edward VII’s Coronation. Pictures of novelty events in the now defunct Rag Regattas are also included plus a few rare Rowing Club group photographs.

A huge crowd attended the Marlow Jazz Club to watch the Five Star Swing Big Band perform at the Wycombe Arts Festival on Friday, May 20. The band was led by Chris Smith Junior and has built up a big reputation with many radio and TV appearances. The band played a variety of songs and welcomed audience participation.

An EU referendum debate will be held in Marlow Bottom on Friday, June 3. Residents have been invited to gather at the Methodist Chapel, 148 Marlow Bottom, at 7.30 for the discussion between MEP Anneliese Dodds who will be arguing to remain and High Wycombe’s MP Steve Baker who will be arguing to leave. The debate has been organised by Valley Plus and is open to all Valley residents.

Louise Cournarie from the Royal Academy of music will perform a piano recital at Christ Church URC on Saturday, June 4 at 7.30pm. The French musician will perform Schubert’s mighty A major sonata, Mozart’s F major sonata as well as music by Handel, Bach and Rameau. A garden party celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday will take place at Christ Church URC, Oxford Road, on Sunday, June 5. There will be tea and cake on offer and guests will enjoy a range of activities and entertainment. Admission is free as part of Love Marlow festival. It will run from 3pm to 5pm.

Chiltern Bonsai Society will put on a display at Liston Hall on Sunday, May 29 from 10am until 4pm. A range of Bonsai species will be on display as well as a collection of miniature stone landscapes thanks to the British Suiseki Club. Experts will demonstrate some top bonsai techniques and a selection of pots, trees and tools will be on sale. Leading bonsai stylist Harry Harrington will be present with signed copies of his latest book.

Bisham Open Gardens will take place on Sunday, June 19 which will see visitors welcomed in to the number of gardens dotted throughout the village. Parts of Bisham Abbey and its surrounding grounds will be open throughout the day, and guests will also be able to visit the ancient All Saints Church. Afternoon tea and lunch will be on offer in a number of the gardens where visitors will be able to buy plants and take part in a raffle.A ferry service will be included to take guests to the gardens only accessible by water. The gardens will be open from 12:30 to 5:30. Tickets are £5 per person, free for under 14’s and donations will be requested for ferry services.

BoBelles craft fayre will be held at All Saints Church Hall on Saturday, June 18 from 10am to 4pm. A total of 25 stalls with handmade crafts will be packed in to the hall on The Causeway, including artwork, home accessories, greetings cards, handbags and clothes.

The Crowne Plaza will host a family fun day to raise money for The Firefighters Charity on Monday, May 30. Firemen will be on the lawn with fire engines and will perform fire demos. R2D2 will be the guest of honour and visitors will also be able to enjoy Live Music, BBQ, bouncy castles, face painting and games on the lawn. Admission is free and the event will start at 12pm.

The Marlow Society will host a Forgotten Marlow walk on Sunday, June 12. The group will meet at the Marlow Museum at 2.30pm. This follows up the society’s town walk on Saturday, May 14.
