Residents are being encouraged to be alert on child sexual exploitation by attending information evenings in one of three locations across Buckinghamshire.

Informative sessions on what child sexual exploitation is, how to spot it and report concerns are scheduled to take place at Buckingham School on June 14, Chiltern Hills Academy on June 21 and Cressex School on June 23.

With this form of sexual abuse presenting a challenge for parents with young teenagers, the Barnardo’s R U Safe team, who concentrate their services particularly on sexual exploitation, will be proving information to help answer residents questions, issues, give advice and make sure residents are aware of what is being done to help tackle CSE in Buckinghamshire.

Along with Barnardo’s, senior staff from Thames Valley Police and BBC Children’s Social Care and Youth Services team will also be present at the information evenings, informing residents about this specific form of sexual abuse which is very difficult to recognise.

Lin Hazell, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “I urge parents, carers, community leaders and members of the public to come along to a session.

“An hour or two of their time will arm them with important knowledge on how to spot the signs of CSE which could be vital in protecting and keeping their own and other children safe.”

To become well informed about CSE, residents can drop in on the night from 7:00-8:30pm or to book a place, email communications@buckscc.gov.uk.
