UPDATE: Council chiefs accused of not caring about children as 'vital' centres face chop.
Children centres across the county could face the chop as council family services struggle to cope with “challenging” budget cuts.
The families support service for Bucks County Council has come under review which could lead to the closure of some of the 35 children's centres across the county.
The review plans to focus the review on the role of the services the centres provide and the impact they have on helping children to develop.
Cabinet member for Education and Skills, Zahir Mohammed said children’s centres are extremely popular but acknowledged that the council may have to make the difficult decision to close some in order to make essential savings.
An initial review report is expected later on this year.
