Russell Brand chose a special performance in High Wycombe to confirm rumours he is about to become a dad for the first time.

The comedian was using a small audience as the test bed for his new material last night, performing in front of just a few hundred fans inside the Old Town Hall, when he reportedly revealed the news.

Recent reports in the national media suggested the 40-year-old – who recently moved to Henley – is expecting a baby with girlfriend Laura Gallacher.

Last night, he confirmed the rumours in front of the High Wycombe crowd, reportedly saying “I’m having one of those”, when speaking to audience members about babies.

Russell, who has 12 million followers on Twitter, only picked High Wycombe to test out his new material on Friday evening, with all the tickets selling out over the weekend.

There were queues outside the entrance and squabbling over spare tickets online, with the hastily arranged show likely to live long in the memory of the select few who were able to go.
