More than 32,000 people in Buckinghamshire have signed a petition in the last three days calling for a second EU referendum.
The petition to government, which has been widely shared on social media, is asking for a rule change to allow another poll to take place after the UK voted 52 per cent to 48 in favour of leaving the EU.
The huge number of signatures nationally – almost four million as of Monday afternoon – include more than 7,000 from the Wycombe constituency, where eurosceptic MP Steve Baker helped lead a charge for Brexit.
The referendum results in the Wycombe District – which differs from the Wycombe parliamentary area – bucked the national trend last week by voting in favour of remaining in the EU.
In Chesham and Amersham, where Cheryl Gillan also campaigned for an out vote, nearly 10,000 constituents have signed up in opposition to their MP’s views.
And Dominic Grieve’s Beaconsfield constituency has more than 8,000 supporters for the cause.
