Marlow’s very own open-air music festival has had its “best year yet”, headlined by British power pop tribute act The Echo.

More than 750 people flocked to the fourth annual Rock Bottom festival in the Marlow Bottom playing fields on Saturday (June 25).

A number of acts, including The Echo, Marlow-based The Stormflies, Madness tribute act Cairo East, London-based band Grooveline and ABBA tribute act Frida and Agnetha performed across the two main stages.

There was also a silent disco, Punch and Judy, a circus skills area and funfair for revellers to enjoy.

Steve Haywood of The Echo told the BFP said performing at the festival “was a blast” and “very special” because the group received a five-song encore.

He said: “I’m very proud of the guys in the band, they all did really well. It was fantastic to have a five-song encore.”

He also said being from Marlow Bottom, he had a “connection” to the festival.

After holding the festival at the beginning of September for three years, organisers Jason Batten and Richard Moss decided to move it forward to July in the hope of a longer and warmer day for families.

Mr Batten said: “We were quite concerned about the weather which was very wet as the gates opened at midday.

“However by the time Grooveline came on at 3:15pm, the sun came out and shone for the rest of the day.”

Mr Moss said: “It was great to see people from Marlow Bottom, High Wycombe, the wider local area and even London come and support this event.

“Everyone agreed it was the best year yet and whilst we are still working out a final figures, we are confident we will have raised desperately needed funds for the Valley.”
