A gang of men armed with machetes and baseball bats chased a group of teens during a terrifying incident in Marlow yesterday evening.

More information has emerged after concerned residents reported a huge police presence and heard helicopters overhead at around 7pm yesterday evening (July 4).

Two boys aged 15 and 16 were walking along Glade Road with two girls when a green Bentley with a beige roof with two Asian men inside pulled up alongside them and spoke to the girls, police say.

The two men were smartly dressed and believed to be wearing grey suits.

The car continued to drive up and down the road while the group walked towards the Marlow Donkey pub.

The two boys spoke to the men while the girls walked away, and the car then drove off.

However it returned several minutes later accompanied by a blue 4X4 and a red Audi.

A group of Asian men carrying baseball bats and machetes then got out of the two cars and ran after the teenagers, who managed to get away uninjured.

The offenders – who are believed to be between 18 and 35 - then got back in to the car and drove off.

They were wearing casual clothes and tracksuits.

Investigating officer PC Jessica Martin, from High Wycombe police station, said: "Officers are investigating this incident and I would like to appeal to anyone with any information which could be relevant to contact police.

"Patrols have been taking place in the area and members of the public may notice officers in the area conducting enquiries. If anyone has any concerns they can approach a member of the neighbourhood team in the area or call 101."

Alternatively anyone can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Scores of concerned residents have taken to social media to express concern for the safety of their families.

NPAS Benson was searching High Wycombe last night for a group of males fighting in the street before leaving in vehicles, although it has not yet been confirmed if these incidents are linked.
