Hundreds of young people from Wycombe and the surrounding area are preparing to take to the stage for the town theatre’s annual summer project.

The Wycombe Swan Summer Youth Project returns this year with classic musical, Doctor Dolittle, and up to 180 budding actors from the area will join a professional creative team to produce the show.

The two-week project will culminate in a weekend of performances on August 5 and 6.

This year is expected to be the biggest and best yet, with 12 puppets on stage, operated by the cast to help bring the characters to life.

Andrew Sharpe from Marlow will take to the stage in the starring role of Doctor Dolittle, while Amersham’s Ben Cisneros will play Matthew Mugg and Beaconsfield’s Olivia La Marque will take on the role of Polynesia the Parrot.

The project also includes 25 technical places for young people who will build the sets and provide stage management, lighting, sound and props.
