A village day fun run raised more than £900 for charity.

The annual event in Westwood Park, Little Chalfont, saw 135 people take part in the fun run, which raised £491 each for Neuroblastoma UK and the new Little Chalfont Nature Park which is owned by the Little Chalfont Charitable Trust.

Organiser Roger Funk said the village has supported Neuroblastoma UK, a charity that funds research into the aggressive childhood cancer, ever since the death of Little Chalfont Primary School pupil Alex Sharp from the disease around five years ago.

Since his death, father Ben Sharp, who Mr Funk described as a “committed fundraiser”, has been raising money for the charity.

Fun runners could choose the distance they ran, with Mr Funk saying it was a fun run, not a fun race.

He said: “It is not about winning, it is about taking part.”

Speaking for the Little Chalfont Charitable Trust, Rob Rolls said the money would go towards additional features for the park.

Danny Wykes, manager of car dealer Citygate Chalfont, the firm that sponsored the run, said Citygate was “delighted to continue supporting the community”.

The run raised a total of £982 for the two charities.
