Marlow’s restaurant scene is continuing to flourish as one of the town’s top eateries was crowned best in the region.

The Hand and Flowers on West Street was awarded fourth place on top 100 restaurant list by food website Squaremeal, and was named the best overall in the South East.

The eatery – which is run by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge – is one of 29 restaurants in the region to land a place on the prestigious list.

And Mr Kerridge’s The Coach – also on West Street -was awarded the 88th spot, despite only opening in 2014.

The list gives ratings to restaurants around the country based on votes by bloggers, foodies and readers of the site, but excludes London from the List to allow regional restaurants to shine.

Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck in Bray was named the best overall, but a number of restaurants within a short distance from Marlow, including the Walnut Tree in Bourne End.

Mr Kerridge as built up his empire throughout Marlow and currently has his sights set on O’Donohughes on Spittal Street, the BFP believes.
