An investigation has been launched after a man died following a crash on the A355 near Coleshill on Sunday.

At around 12.20pm, a crash involving several motorcyclists happened on the A355 Amersham Road, near the Tower Road junction at Coleshill.

One motorcyclist - whose identity has not yet been confirmed - died in hospital.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is now independently investigating the actions of police, alongside an investigation into the crash by a specialist unit from Hertfordshire Constabulary.

District councillors have previously slammed the "dangerous" road, after a number of fatal crashes in the past two years.

Alison Kelly, who lived and worked near Amersham, died in a crash involving three cars on the A355 Amersham Road, near to Coleshill on August 25 last year.

Just months after that, 65-year-old Hugh Pirrie died in a crash involving two cars on the same road

In November 2014, two childhood friends were killed in a crash on the A355 Whippas Hill, near Beaconsfield.

Driver Daniel Horton and passenger Aaron Savin, both 21, died at the scene at around 10.30pm after the car they were travelling in collided with a silver Ford on the other side of the road.

In January 2015, 45-year-old Benjamin Morbey from Ilford in Essex died on the A355 near Beaconsfield after his car left the road and hit a tree.

Some witnesses at the scene of yesterday's crash have already been spoken to, but investigators want to speak to any further witnesses who may have been travelling on the Amersham Road at that time and especially those who may have seen the crash.

Witnesses are being asked to contact the IPCC on 0800 096 9070 or email witness@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk.
