A new gastropub run by Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc is coming to Chalfont St Peter.

The chef’s White Brasserie Company is planning to open the gastropub after it acquired the Village Hall pub in Gold Hill West, described by the company as a “perfect setting”, for an undisclosed amount.

The move has been lauded by Chalfont St Peter Parish Council chairman Linda Smith who says it will “re-invigorate” the heart of the village.

She said: “A gastro pub fronted by a celebrity name will hopefully bring in tourists from outside the area and lead to others having the confidence to invest in our historic village to fill our empty shops.

“We have the national award winning Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont Common, a heritage trail of plaques showing what the village looked like years ago, listed buildings, shops and great commons.

“The Parish Council have reinstated the historic ‘The Market Place’ sign at the bottom of Market Place, and new enterprises such as this gastro pub, Savers and the Co-op due to open will bring business and employment to the village giving more local choice for our residents, and re-invigorate the heart of our village.”

The two-story pub can seat up to 110 customers inside and a further 150 outside on the terrace and in the beer garden, and has been an independent pub for more than a decade.

Mark Derry, chief executive of Brasserie Bar Co, the group behind The White Brasserie Company and Brasserie Blanc, said: “We were delighted to find a pub with such potential in such a perfect setting.

“Each pub we open has its own special character and ambience, and we are excited to revitalise this site and make it a much loved venue for locals and visitors.”

Spokesman Chris Bickle of estate agent Saville, which bought the leasehold of the Village Hall on behalf of the White Brassiere Company, said: “We are pleased to have secured the sale of The Village Hall, which offers a sought after location in The Chalfonts and a customer base well-aligned with The White Brasserie Company.

“The licensed leisure market has seen increased activity in the regions around London and the M25, and we expect this trend to continue.”
