It was another successful GCSE results day at Beaconsfield High this morning, despite a number of staffing changes throughout the year, according to the head teacher.

A total of 91 per cent of pupils at the school on Wattleton Road got A* to B grades, 69 per cent got A* to A grades with 100 per cent of pupils getting five A* to C grades.

A total of 7 students got straight A*s and five of those got an A in advance maths – which is the highest grade available for that subject.

Head teacher Rachel Smith said: “We are so so pleased.

“Everyone expects it because we’re a grammar school but there are schools that coast through because they have clever children that get good grades but we work hard to make sure clever girls get great grades.

"It shows the staff really work hard to do their very best for the girls.

“There is a real sense of community here. The pressure is high but they respond to it well. We do what we can to reduce the pressure but keep the opportunity there.”

Among the high flyers were Sophia Arkley who got eight A*s and three A grades, and she will be moving schools to study at Dr Challoner’s 6th form in September.

And Isobel Atkinson got A*s across the board and an A in advance maths, and will continue studying at Beaconsfield High in September.
