Each week, BFP chief photographer Anita Ross Marshall chooses some of her favourite photographs from the archive.

She writes: “Emotion in an image is everything and in everyday life sometimes it can be a little hard to find as we have perfected the art of the stiff upper lip to perfection.

"Put a camera in front of someone and the shutters close even more - except in the case of sport.

"It is a photographer’s dream; people cry, hug and show joy in the most open way, both for those taking part and those who spectate.

"But, most importantly it unites both those in front and behind the lens and reminds us that being human is about sharing those emotions."
