Thieves targeted a High Wycombe supermarket last night, with reports of a vehicle smashing into the store and stealing a cash machine.

Staff at Waitrose on Marlow Hill - which opened in March this year - confirmed that there had been an incident at the shop.

A staff member said the shop was "ram-raided" and the cash point stolen by a "group of six men wearing balaclavas" at around 1.15am.

Pictures from the scene show one of the supermarket's windows boarded up and window companies on the scene.

A free standing ATM used to stand in the corner where the window was smashed.

Police confirmed the incident had been reported to them and believe the group were travelling in two vehicles - an Audi and a BMW.

The supermarket is open as usual today.

It is the second Waitrose store to have been targeted in south Bucks this week.

An ATM from Waitrose in Station Road was stolen in a late night raid on Monday.

Police say they are not linking the two incidents at the this time but they "continue to keep an open mind."
