A Bourne End secondary school was forced to close for the second time in a week today after a power failure.

Hundreds of schoolchildren were unable to attend Bourne End Academy this morning, with the school set to be closed all day.

A statement on the school's website says the site, in New Road, has suffered a "major" power failure this morning (October 21).

The electricity board is "working with the school to resolve".

The school was also closed last Friday (October 14) because a power failure “rendered normal operation of the school on Friday impossible”.
