A hammer-wielding robber grabbed a man and demanded money in a High Wycombe alleyway last week.

At about 9.35pm on Wednesday, October 12, the 46 year-old man was walking along Birdcage Walk - a well-used alleyway near High Wycombe railway station - when he was approached by another man.

The attacker grabbed the victim's t-shirt and demanded money before pulling out a hammer from his pocket.

The men were involved in a struggle but the attacker fled the scene empty-handed.

No-one was injured.

The attacker is white, approximately 6ft, of large build, aged between about 18 and 21 and spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing a blue hooded top, dark coloured jeans and white Adidas trainers.

He was with three other men, one wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up.

The frightening incident came just two days after a 23-year-old man was punched in the face and robbed in the same alleyway.

There is no suggestion the two attacks are linked.

Investigating officer PC Nico Aquino based at High Wycombe police station said: "I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information that could assist with our investigation.
