A woman was killed after being hit by a car as she crossed a road in High Wycombe last night, police have just confirmed.
Hughenden Avenue was closed in both directions throughout most of yesterday evening after the pedestrian was struck by a car.
After repeated calls for information, officers has told the Bucks Free Press in the last few moments that they can confirm a woman suffered “significant” head injuries in the crash and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene about an hour later.
It is understood she was crossing the road when she was struck by the vehicle, coming from the direction of the town centre.
Her next of kin have been informed.
However, at this time, police are unable to release more information about the woman or the car involved.
The emergency services raced to the scene just before 5pm after receiving 999 calls.
Earlier today, South Central Ambulance Service confirmed they sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, two officers and a doctor, but could not give any more information.
The crash is understood to have happened near Bucks New Uni student accommodation towards the junction of Hughenden Road.
More as we get it.
