With Christmas just around the corner, the Marlow Round Table is set to begin its festive fundraising by taking Santa out and about on the streets of Marlow.

The annual tradition, which is organised by the voluntary members of Round Table, raises thousands of pounds for schools and good causes.

Santa – in his trusty sleigh – will be delighting hundreds of children in Marlow and Marlow Bottom across the next three weekends as he visits their streets and knocks on their doors.

This Saturday (December 3), Father Christmas will be visiting the roads around Foxes Piece School from 4.30pm, before taking to the streets around Marlow Church of England Infants School (Sandygate) on Sunday evening.

Chris Hoyle, chairman of Marlow and District Round Table, said: “For us at Round Table, helping Santa to visit hundreds of Marlow children really is the start of Christmas.  We work in conjunction with the local infant and junior schools, raising typically around £2500, half of which we give directly to the schools and the other half we distribute to local causes throughout the year.

“What makes it so special is that every year we get dozens of parents and children from the schools coming out to help us knock on doors, shake our buckets and raise the money.

“Without their help and support it wouldn’t be so much fun, nor as successful; it’s a great community effort and we love doing it.”

The Santa Float is just one of three primary fund raising activities carried out by the Marlow Round Table each year, along with the May Fayre and running the bar at the Marlow Town Regatta every year.

If you are interested in getting involved with the Round Table, they are looking for men aged between 18 and 45 to join their ranks. Go to marlow.roundtable.co.uk or text Join and your postcode to 60066.
