Snow showers have finally hit south Bucks this evening and the emergency services are warning people to watch out for snowy and icy conditions in the morning.

A yellow warning remaining remains in place for Buckinghamshire, with the Met Office predicting heavy snow for a large part of this evening.

And the weather is already causing traffic chaos across parts of High Wycombe, according to readers.

Pictures have been sent to the Bucks Free Press from across the county, showing a covering of snow in Stokenchurch, Hazlemere and Great Missenden.

Transport for Bucks gritters are set to go out at 11pm tonight and 4am in the morning in a bid to combat the expected icy roads.

Speaking at about 8pm, they said: “At this time the forecast indicates tomorrow as being cold with the risk of ice on untreated roads. Some light snow showers in the morning.

“We expect there to be sufficient salt on the road from the 4am treatment to control snow in contact with the road surface.

“Accumulations are predicated to be minimal. Road surface temperatures then dip towards late afternoon. At this time we may undertake a midday treatment to again prevent our gritters being delayed in the Friday evening drive home.

“This would also provide our drivers with the additional rest they deserve.”

The emergency services are also warning residents to be careful on the roads, with a possibility many will wake up in the morning to icy or snowy conditions.

It today's weather warning, Met Office forecasters said: "The most likely scenario is for 2 to 4 cm to fall above about 100 m elevation across parts of southeast England with 1 to 2 cm to low levels in places.

"However, there remains a small chance of snow settling more widely with 5 to 10 cm at low levels this evening, leading to disruption to road, rail and air services as well as interruptions to power supplies and other utilities - this more likely across East Anglia and southeast England."

Over the course of the evening and tomorrow morning, we will keep you up-to-date with all the developments, with the latest forecasts, road conditions and potentially school closures.
