High Wycombe was more congested than usual this morning, with drivers reporting an hour’s travel time for journeys within the town.
The roads were gridlocked during rush hour, with traffic links showing slow or queuing traffic on A355 Park Lane southbound at A40 London Road in Beaconsfield, A404 Bisham and M40 southbound before J1A (M25).
Angry drivers took to social media, with one saying it took him an hour to get from High Wycombe town centre to Flackwell Heath and another asking Wycombe District Council what they were doing with traffic lights.
WDC does not look after the traffic lights in the county - that is the responsibility of Transport for Bucks, which said the delays could have been partly due to emergency gas works along Daws Hill Lane.

@franniem16 @bucksfreepress @wycombedc It's nuts. Taken me over an hour from Wycombe centre to Flackwell Heath. Could've walked faster

@bucksfreepress It was awful this morning. Took me an hour to get from Hatters Lane to Handy Cross (would normally take 20 mins tops).
