A 26-year-old woman from High Wycombe has been arrested after a young cyclist was killed in an alleged hit-and-run this week.

Police launched an investigation after a 28-year-old man, named locally as David Pickup, died in the incident, which happened in Hicks Farm Rise at 11.40pm on Monday (January 16).

The woman was arrested today (Wednesday) on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and is currently in custody.

Two men, aged 27 and 25, also fron High Wycombe, were arrested yesterday (January 17) on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

Both men were bailed until March 18.

The cyclist, who was travelling downhill, was involved in a crash with a black car travelling in the opposite direction up the hill.

The black car did not stop at the scene but continued driving towards Totteridge Lane, sparking a police "hit-and-run" investigation.

It is believed the black car was travelling in convoy with a silver car which also drove off.

Police have launched a re-appeal for witnesses. Sgt Beth Walton, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicles travelling in the area at around the time of the collision.

"People may have seen a black car with significant damage following the collision so I would also like to speak to anyone who saw this vehicle.

"We are working to trace the occupants of both the black car and the silver car which we believe were involved.

"If you were travelling in either of these vehicles I would ask you to come forward and speak to police.

"This is a tragic incident in which a young man was left dying in the road.

"Our investigation in to this incident is continuing to establish the circumstances and our thoughts remain with the family of the victim."
