The winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off visited a High Wycombe school on Tuesday to open its new café.

Excited staff and pupils at Wycombe Abbey welcomed Candice Brown, who took the top prize on the BBC show before its planned move to Channel 4, to open The Courtyard café.

During her visit, the star baker tried a selection of Victoria sponge cakes baked by the pupils, and answered questions from students and staff.

Head teacher Rhiannon Wilkinson said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Candice Brown to Wycombe Abbey to open The Courtyard.

“She was a breath of fresh air and the girls warmed to her immediately.

“As a teacher following her dreams, she is a wonderful inspiration to us all.”
