Patients at a south Bucks GP surgery are being invited to give their feedback on proposals to merge with another Bucks and Oxfordshire-based practice.

Wellington House Surgery, which has 9,200 patients, and sites in Princes Risborough and Chinnor, is proposing to merge with Trinity Health Centre in Thame, Long Crendon and Brill, to create one GP practice from October.

Health bosses say the merger would give patients “greater access” to GPs, nurses and other primary care support services, and patients would still have access to all five surgeries currently operated by the two practices.

Dr Stephen Stamp, lead GP partner at Wellington House Surgery, said: “A merger would bring benefits for our patients, enabling us as clinicians to continue to offer high quality and diverse services, while streamlining some of our systems and processes and supporting our patients better.

“There is a growing population and merging our two practices will allow us to ensure we are a strong, future-proof health facility in Buckinghamshire for generations to come.”

Dr Stuart Logan, Partner at Trinity Health, added: “As a merged practice we would want to deliver improved patient centric services for all our patients and especially those with long term conditions like diabetes and ensure we are able to better support them with self-care and care planning.

“We also want to look at how we can better manage urgent demand for appointments on the day, use new technologies more and develop our links with social services to support some of our more vulnerable patients.”

Bucks County Council confirmed patients’ registration would remain unaffected by the proposed merger.

Drop-in sessions will be held at both practices where patients can ask questions and find out what the proposed merger might mean for them.
