A south Bucks charity is set to host its first ever family fun run to raise money for new medical equipment.

Amersham-based Scannappeal launched Scrub Run at the cardiology department of Wycombe Hospital last Thursday (March 16).

Participants will be encouraged to dress as doctors and nurses in ‘scrubs’ to take on the challenge and can choose a 1k or 5k route, both of which start and finish at Amersham Cricket Club, taking in the beautiful Great Missenden Way and Shardeloes on the route.

Money raised will support Scannappeal's All Heart appeal, which aims to raise funds to buy two latest generation 3D scanners to diagnose and evaluate heart disease.

Charity bosses said equipment purchased by Scannappeal is used every 10 minutes in the county’s hospitals by one in four Bucks residents.

They added that those taking part can run, job or walk, and that seeing the runners “decked out” in their doctors and nurses gear would be “sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face”.

The event is being supported by Amersham gym Wild Training, which will provide runners with a pre-race warm up.

Operations director Hannah Camden said: “We are excited to be supporting the Scannappeal Scrub Run and are delighted to be able to bring our passion to the event and get everyone motivated through a fun and friendly warm up.”

The run will take place on Sunday, May 21.

Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for five to 16-year-olds. For more information or to sign up, go to: http://www.scannappeal.org.uk/event/scrub-run.
