In just 30 minutes a total of 30 vehicles, including HGVs, were spotted going the wrong way round a “dangerous” roundabout in High Wycombe today.

Last week Wycombe District Council announced the mini roundabout, in Hatters Lane, will be realigned to slow down traffic following years of campaigning by concerned residents.

Today (March 21) the Bucks Free Press caught dozens of vehicles driving over the junction as well as driving round it the wrong way as pressure continues to mount on the council.

A number of safety measures for pedestrians will also be created when the roundabout is moved, costing £100,000 altogether, however it is not yet clear when the changes will be made.

A petition set up by concerned resident Dannii Laine in 2015, which gathered more than 370 supporters, called for the roundabout to be re-positioned or a traffic light junction to be installed to better manage the flow of traffic on the road.

The campaigner said that “numerous” crashes had happened at the junction, which has no crossings to help people cross the road.
