The Gossmore recreation ground changing rooms have been reopened by Marlow’s mayor following full refurbishment.

Mayor Bob Johnson, along with deputy mayor Jocelyn Towns, opened the facility on Saturday, March 11, which is used by the Marlow Association of Amateur Football Clubs (MAAFC).

The changing rooms had been in place for 40 years and have had little improvement work completed in that time.

Works included renovation of the interior with additional improved facilities including new toilets and extra showers.

Chairman and secretary of the Marlow Association of Amateur Football, Alan Turner and Bernard Carvell, joined the mayor and deputy mayor at the grand opening.

MAAFC chairman, Alan Turner, said: “We are delighted with the refurbishment and can’t thank Marlow Town Council enough for their support and positive approach in ensuring the many users, young and old, now have a facility worthy of the name.”

Cllr Johnson added: “Gossmore Lane Recreation Ground is an invaluable open space within the town and caters for over 200 users of all ages and genders each weekend.

“It can now boast changing rooms to match its idyllic location. It’s a welcoming venue for the many visiting teams to the town as well as the hundreds of local users who now have a facility to be proud of.”
