Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has hailed the form of Jamal Blackman this season, firmly believing that the 23-year-old can make it to the very top.

Blackman has been in scintillating form lately, including in Wycombe's 2-0 win against Barnet where he produced a couple of jawdropping saves to seal the win for Wanderers.

Akinfenwa told the Bucks Free Press that he feels the on-loan Chelsea stopper has a great future ahead of him, after taking to Twitter earlier this week to call Blackman "a future great".

He said: "I think that guy can go all the way. I believe that I will be able to tell my kids that we were on the same team.

"Honestly I think he has all the attributes to go to the very top, to be Chelsea's number one and to play for England.

"That isn't just me saying it. Sometimes you see players come down into the lower leagues from the bigger clubs and the culture shock is big.

"They haven't got the same amenities such as the food and the facilities and they take their foot off the gas.

"But you see Jamal and he is riding the bike every morning. He doesn't rest on his morals and he has got that humility and he is a presence and a good guy.

"You package that all into some of the performances that he has produced this season and I believe we have a future great.

"The future is really in his hands."
