A former Grade II listed pub could be turned into housing and a day nursery if new plans are given the green light.

Developers want to build five homes on the site of the former Pheasant pub, in Plantation Road, Amersham, and want to partially demolish and convert the pub building into a sixth home as well as a community day nursery.

Troy Homes have proposed 20 parking spaces in total for the development – two spaces each for the three bedroom houses, three spaces for each of the four bedroom houses, two spaces for the nursery and two visitor spaces.

It comes after two attempts by Inland Homes to turn the now-derelict property into housing were rebuffed two years ago, with Chiltern District Council planning chiefs raising concerns at overdevelopment and the loss of the pub as a community facility.

Inland Homes subsequently failed with an appeal before making a fresh application for nine homes last year.

That was also turned down, with Chiltern District Council finding eight reasons for refusal, and was also subject to a failed appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.

At the time, the council was accused of being “out of touch” by the developer.

Troy Homes bosses said the condition of the building is “deteriorating” and the proposals would “rejuvenate” the site and the listed building, adding that “without intervention, the building will continue to deteriorate and place the heritage value of the building at greater risk”.

The Pheasant ceased trading as a pub in December 2012.

A decision is expected to be made by Monday, May 29.
