A man is fighting for his life after a helicopter crashed at Wycombe Air Park this morning.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene after receiving 999 calls at around 9.30am.

One man suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital’s major trauma unit.

Paramedics were the first to arrive at the scene and found all three male passengers outside of the helicopter, having either got themselves out or after help from first responders.

Pictures from the scene show the helicopter on its side.

Dozens of police, ambulance crews, fire engines and an air ambulance were spotted at the scene by onlookers.

In the last few moments, South Central Ambulance Service has released a statement confirming they were called at about 9.30am.

They said one man with life-threatening injuries has been taken by road to the John Radcliffe Hospital’s major trauma unit, in Oxford.

A second man has also been taken there with serious leg, chest, abdominal, head and shoulder injuries.

The third was taken to Wexham Park Hospital, in Slough.

Andy Battye, head of operations in South Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire for SCAS, who attended the incident, said: "I would like to thank all our colleagues in the emergency services who supported the response to this helicopter crash: Thames Valley Police, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and the airport's Fire Service, as well as an off-duty paramedic who was at the airport waiting for his own flying lesson and helped provide initial support and treatment to the most seriously injured patient before the SCAS crews arrived.

"This was an excellent example of how the emergency services work so effectively together and the thoughts of us all are with the patients and their families. We wish them a full and speedy recovery."

Bucks Fire and Rescue has confirmed two fire engines from High Wycombe were called along with a water tanker from Oxfordshire.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed and sent a team to the site.

Staff at Wycombe Air Park refused to comment on the ongoing situation and it is not yet clear if the people on board are from the Wycombe district area.

Wycombe MP, Steve Baker, said: "It is absolutely appalling news. Godspeed to those who were injured."

Meanwhile, the next mayor of High Wycombe, Cllr Brian Pearce, added: "I am very sad to hear about what happened at the air park. I really hope they make a full recovery."

More as we get it.
