Marlow’s annual May Fayre will make a spectacular return to the town this weekend.

Higginson Park will play host to the first big event of the season, the traditional May Fayre and famous Marlow Duck Race, on Saturday, May 13.

Organised by volunteers from the Marlow Round Table, the family fun day will feature activities, stalls and a packed schedule of entertainment from 12pm.

Dave the Disco will be kicking off the festivities, before demonstrations from Tiger Martial Arts, the Kobika dance group and the Supernova cheerleaders.

A string of market stall holders from Marlow and the surrounding areas will be selling their wares on the day, before the popular duck race returns at 4pm.

The race will see more than 1,000 yellow rubber ducks dominate the Thames as they race towards Marlow Bridge.

One of this year’s highlights will be the new Marlow Dog Show for pampered pooches.

The annual event raises thousands for charity each year.

Duncan Wilcox, chairman of Marlow and District Round Table, said: “For us at Round Table, we love raising money for local causes, but we always want to do this in a way that will bring a big smile to the faces of people from Marlow and the surrounding area.

“The May Fayre is our first fund-raising event of the year, before we move on the managing the bar at next month’s Marlow Regatta and of course we take Santa’s float around Marlow each Christmas to meet the kids.

“Without the help and support of the local community it wouldn’t be so much fun, nor as successful; it’s a great community effort and we love doing it.”

Duck race tickets will be available on the day for £2 each with a top prize of £500 waiting for the owner of the winning duck.

If anyone is interesting in supporting the community and joining the Marlow Round Table, the organisation is always looking for men aged 18-45 to join their ranks.
