Heavy rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of thousands of revellers who flocked to Marlow for the first ever Pub in the Park festival this weekend.

A total of 14,000 descended on Higginson Park across the weekend as Tom Kerridge's first ever gastro-music festival kicked off.

Festival-goers enjoyed food cooked up by some of the best pub kitchens in the country, including The Star Inn at Harome, The Coach, The Pony and Trap and Tom Kitchin’s Scran and Scallie.

The menu included dishes like salt beef and onion croquette, pickled white cabbage and sriracha mayo from The Hardwick, chicken tikka pie from Sindhu, and rotisserie grilled pineapple and salted caramel popcorn ice cream sundae from The Crown at Bray.

Raymond Blanc, Angela Hartnett and Monica Galetti were among the big names to take to the stage.

Great British Bake Off 2016 winner, Candice Brown, also entertained the audience alongside Tom in the chef's demo stage on Saturday afternoon.

During the last couple of hours of each session, performers like Tom Odell, James Morrison, The Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and some of Tom Kerridge’s favourites, The Rifles, The Milk and New Street Adventure played live.

On Saturday, the sun came out just as Toploader took to the stage at around 3.30pm.

Guests also enjoyed The Pimm’s Bar and Croquet Lawn, Conker Spirit Gin Bar, Rebellion Brewery Bar and Big Al’s Drive-in.

Marlow Town Council praised the event for creating a "great buzz" in the town.

New Mayor, Jocelyn Towns, said: "We would like to thank Tom Kerridge and Brand Events for bringing Pub in the Park to Marlow.

"It provided a brilliant mix of food, drink and music, and it was lovely to see fireworks in the park again, marking the end of each evening.

"There was a wonderful atmosphere around the town and a great buzz in the High Street every day.

"We appreciate PITP was a commercial venture, but we’re delighted that the organisers have committed to donate to Marlow charities, including the Town Regatta and Festival.”

Mayor Towns and other councillors were invited to attend the opening on Friday.
