Officers visited Stoke Poges School discuss life in the police force and social issues as part of annual police week.

Police officers and PCSOs based around the Chiltern and South Bucks Local Police Area (LPA) attended the primary school in Rogers Lane last week.

The pupils were joined by officers from the Joint Roads Policing Unit who spoke about their roles, how to stay safe near roads and the dangers of speeding.

Children also watched police stop speeding drivers on Bells Hill – near the school – and learned about the dangers of cybercrime, firearms and knife crime and the consequences of hate crime.

Outreach service, Young Addaction, joined officers to discuss the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

The pupils also took part in a mock crime scene investigation, police fitness training tests and wore police uniform at the police training centre near Reading.

PCSO, Kam Benawra, said: "It was a fantastic week where the students gained an insight into the workings of the police.

"We host this event every year to educate pupils at Stoke Poges School on the different teams and roles within the police and to educate them on social issues such as drug abuse and knife crime."

A Stoke Poges School spokesperson said: "The children at Stoke Poges School again had the wonderful opportunity of taking part in Police Week.

β€œAnd what a week packed with exciting activities it proved to be! From stopping speeding cars on Bell's Hill to the trip to the Police Training College at Sulhamstead, the children enjoyed invaluable learning experiences that will last a lifetime, and many of them of course expressed great interest in the career possibilities that policing in the UK offers.

"Our thanks are also due to the parents of the children who supported us by arranging to have all the children appropriately dressed in police uniform! We are looking forward to another great Police Week next year."
