Beaconsfield’s new mayor says he is “honoured and delighted” to take the chains for the next year.

Cllr Chris Owen was elected into the role by Beaconsfield Town Council at a meeting on Thursday, May 18.

Cllr Owen has lived in Beaconsfield for most of his life and has run several businesses in the town during that time. He enjoys organising charity fundraising events in his spare time.

He is married to Carolyn and they have two children – a son and a daughter.

Following his election, Cllr Owen said: “I am honoured, delighted and immensely proud to have been elected mayor of Beaconsfield.

“During my year as mayor, I look forward to meeting with as many of Beaconsfield’s community and voluntary groups as possible.

“I will ensure that I work hard with my fellow councillors to preserve the standards that make Beaconsfield such a great place to live.”

He has chosen Rennie Grove Hospice Care as his mayoral charity for the year.

The new deputy mayor of the town is Cllr Anita Cranmer, who represents the south east ward of Beaconsfield.
