A total of one million people have visited Buckinghamshire’s country parks in a year for the first time.

Black Park, Denham Park, and Langley Park have seen an eight per cent increase in visitors from 2015 to 2016 and numbers have risen by 500,000 over the last decade.

To mark the milestone Country Parks manager, Andrew Fowler, has handed out golden envelopes filled with vouchers to three families in each of the parks.

Mr Fowler – who has worked at the parks for 23 years - believes the increase in visitors is down to improvements such as better food, refurbished children’s playgrounds and attractions including Go Ape.

He said: “We’re delighted to get more than one million visitors for the first time - the final total was one-million-and-fifty-five visitors.

“There are several reasons behind our success, but chief among them is how we’ve worked with our on-site partners San Remo Catering, Groundwork South, Go Ape and local charities to further improve what the parks have to offer.”

Bucks County Council hopes to move forward with the improvements including a new mobile app displaying a map and information around the parks and Go Ape will launch its first ‘tree-top nets adventure course’.

Recipients of the golden envelopes were Kye Hoile and Jean Morton, from Great Missenden, who were visiting Langley; Laura Williams and daughter Dotty, three, from north-west London, who were visiting Denham; and Victoria Willis and daughter Olivia, one, from Gerrards Cross, who were visiting Black Park.
