A film director who worked on eight James Bond films has paid tribute to Sir Roger Moore, who sadly passed away yesterday after a cancer battle.

John Glen, who worked with the film star when he directed For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy and A View to a Kill, said Sir Roger played a "large part" in his career.

They also worked together when John edited On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker.

In a tribute written exclusively for the Bucks Free Press, he said: "He was always full of fun and respected by all who worked with him.

"I always allowed half an hour on the schedule per day for Roger's pranks which kept the crew relaxed and in good humour. A half an hour well spent.

"He was a director in his own right and was mindful of the problems that a director could face.

"I can't remember him every fluffing a line and I remember asking him once if he had a photographic memory. He laughed and said no, it was a technique.

"No doubt those endless television series before he became a superstar as James Bond held him in good stead."

Sir Roger's family confirmed the news of his death on Twitter yesterday, saying he had passed away after "a short but brave battle with cancer".
