Shocking CCTV footage shows the dramatic moment a car ploughed into a Beaconsfield pharmacy – “narrowly missing pedestrians” on a busy town centre street.

The dramatic scene unfolded on Monday afternoon as the helpless co-owner of Pyramid Pharmacy – who only took over four weeks ago – watched on in horror just ten feet away.

The co-owner – who asked not to be named – described her brush with death, saying she “screamed” as the burgundy Jaguar shattered the grass-fronted store in Station Road.

She said: “Basically the first thing we heard was the ginormous crash – it is all a bit blurry now.

“We only took over the shop four weeks ago. We have been in a bit of a transition phase then this happened – it makes you feel like your life is flashing in front of you.

“I was about a car length away from it, then another girl was about two car lengths away. I was in complete shock. I was on the phone to a supplier and he heard me scream.

“It takes its toll. You are going through it every day since then. People are wanting to know if you are okay and you are revisiting it every day.”

The maroon Jaguar narrowly missed the pharmacy's co-owner

The freak accident will cost the co-owners – who took over from the Pyramid Pharmacy in April –around £17,000.

She added: “You have to put on a brave face and carry on. We will have to have a whole new shop front, new grills. We need to get someone into to the job – I have already ordered it all.

“The main this is that no one was hurt. Things are material, the shop front is replaceable.”

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed an 82-year-old man was taken to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough where he was treated for injuries to his head and arms.

Bucks Fire and Rescue, who were first on scene according to eyewitnesses, helped the pensioner out of the car and administered first aid to him before using an environmental protection kit to make the scene safe.

Jeweller, Andre De Marsac – who was serving customers in his shop opposite the pharmacy in Burkes Court when he heard the crash - criticised bystanders who were taking photos of the wreckage.

He told the Bucks Free Press that he ordered a colleague to call the emergency services before racing across the road alongside his customer to help the injured driver.

“I ran across the road and the young man who was with me at the time ran with me. We ran across the road to the vehicle which was leaking fluids from the engine.

“There was a lot of smoke that was coming from the air bag but at the time that wasn’t obvious. I think that is why a lot of people were worried.

“There were some other fit more able men than me and they seemed to stand back. It is amazing really that people were standing taking pictures.

“We opened the door and the gentleman was conscious but he had a very bad head cut which was bleeding.

“Then the young man who was on the phone and was relaying info back from the ambulance service then I was getting information from the gentleman in the car.

“The fire brigade were first on the scene, as soon as I came on the scene I left, the brigade were there and you have to let them get on with their job.”
