A host of the biggest stars to come out of the eighties rocked Cookham on Saturday as the sold-out retro festival, Let’s Rock the Moor, returned for the ninth year.

Despite going head-to-head with the first ever Pub in the Park festival in Marlow, Let’s Rock the Moor managed to sell out once again, with 10,000 people enjoying the show.

Crowds poured into Marsh Meadow on Saturday, May 20 for an action-packed day of eighties madness provided by an impressive line-up of artists.

And the rain did not affect the spirit of the audience, who were handed ponchos and umbrellas to stay dry.

Legendary outfit, The Blockheads, kicked off the fun at midday, before the likes of Howard Jones, Go West, From the Jam, Tiffany and Sister Sledge took to the stage.

American music group, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Sheffield-born Living in a Box and Technotronic also performed some of their best-known hits as the delighted audience cheered and danced along.

Festival headliner, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), the synth-pop duo from Wirral best known for hits like Enola Gay, Souvenir and Joan of Arc, ended the show with a dazzling performance at 9.30pm.

The stars were not just on the stage either - with former Eastenders stars Ross Kemp and John Altman enjoying the music.

As well as top bands, the family-friendly festival featured the Let’s Rock! Playpen to keep the kids entertained, as well as circus workshops with the BigTopMania Circus and Carters Steam Fair.

Money raised from the popular event will go towards helping three charities - Child Bereavement UK, Wooden Spoon and The Link Foundation.

Earlybird tickets for next year’s festival will go on sale on August 31.
