A motorcyclist died after a crash with a car near Amersham yesterday evening.

Detectives have arrested a 33-year-old woman following the tragic death and are currently appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle crash on the A413 shortly before 7.30pm.

A black Hyundai estate car and a black BMW motorcycle had been involved in a collision, police confirmed this afternoon.

The male rider of the motorcycle sadly died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a family liaison officer.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.

The road, between the A355 Gore Hill and the A413 London Road East, was closed while Roads Policing officers worked in the area to establish the circumstances and an investigation is ongoing.

The road re-opened shortly before 2am today.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicles travelling prior to the collision.

A 33-year-old woman from Aylesbury was arrested today on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and is currently in police custody.
