The achievements of unpaid carers who look after ill, disabled or frail relatives or friends will be recognised during Carers Week next week.

In Bucks, more than 52,000 people provide unpaid care to a relative or friend who due to illness, disability or frailty cannot manage without their support.

Carers Bucks, a charity that supports unpaid carers of all ages across the county, will be celebrating Carers Week 2017 with events for carers and the local community between June 12 and 18.

Stephen Archibald, Chief Executive of Carers Bucks, said: “As a society with a rapidly ageing population we cannot afford to ignore carers.

"Carers Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the vital role carers play in our local communities, and we look forward to welcoming people along to our events during the week.

"Too often caring comes at a cost to the carer’s own health and wellbeing, and so it is important they receive help and support for themselves as well as the person they care for."
