Dozens of people donned their best ‘scrubs’ to take part in a fun run to raise money for charity.

More than 70 people turned out to Amersham charity Scannappeal’s first ever Scrub Run at Amersham Cricket Club, dressed up as doctors, nurses or hospital staff to take on a 5k or 1k route.

Money raised will support the charity’s All Heart appeal, which aims to raise funds to buy two latest generation 3D scanners to diagnose and evaluate heart disease.

Charity bosses said equipment purchased by Scannappeal is used every 10 minutes in the county’s hospitals by one in four Bucks residents.

Organisers said the event was attended by people of all ages, including a four-year-old girl who was the day’s youngest 5k runner.

Nicola Bowers, senior cardiac research nurse at Wycombe Hospital, who took part with her family, said: “We all really enjoyed taking part. Working as a cardiology nurse I have seen first-hand the difference Scannappeal makes to our hospitals and patients.

“We are an active family and this was a perfect opportunity for us to do something together that was fun and makes a real difference for the local community.”
