While it was all-change across many unexpected areas of the country on Thursday night in a dramatic General Election, the Tories managed to hold on to their south Bucks seats.

Wycombe MP Steve Baker, Beaconsfield MP Dominic Grieve and Chesham & Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan were re-elected in their respective constituencies - however Labour saw a surge in numbers across the county.

Mr Baker saw his majority cut by more than half, going from just under 15,000 to around 6,500, and while Mr Grieve saw his majority increase, the Labour candidate for Beaconsfield, James English, managed to double the party’s figures from 6,074 votes (and third place) in 2015 to 12,016 this time around.

Mrs Gillan won the Chesham & Amersham seat with 33,514 votes, followed by Labour’s Nina Dluzewska, who got 11,374 votes.

Tory David Lidington held on to his seat in Aylesbury, with 32,313 votes, while Speaker John Bercow was controversially re-elected in Buckingham with 34,299 votes – a 65.1 per cent share – despite almost 2,000 ballot papers being spoilt.
