Thames Valley Police Cadets took gold as they went head-to-head with Thames Valley Army and RAF Cadets in the "first ever" Buckinghamshire Inter-Cadet Competition on Saturday (July 16).

The competition, which was held at Beaconsfield Air Cadet Unit, saw the cadets battle it out over a series of six challenges that tested their first aid, field cooking and observation skills alongside a memorised drill routine, uniform inspection and a rank quiz.

The TVP Cadets were rewarded with a trophy for their efforts. RAF Air Cadets followed, just 15 points short of coming in first, taking home the silver trophy, while the Army Cadets took the bronze.

PCSO Angela O’Connell, based at Taplow Police Station, said: “The competition brought together the local cadet groups in Beaconsfield and provided them with a fun and challenging day where they could try out other skills that they may not have the opportunity to do in their own cadet groups.

“I’d like to thank everyone who helped to organise this inaugural event, and to congratulate all of the cadets that took part.

“The TVP scheme aims to give young people between the ages of 13 and 18 an opportunity to develop their qualities and skills through a structured programme, and to enhance the relationship between the public and police.”
