A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital with "life-threatening" injuries following two crashes on a busy High Wycombe road.
Hammersley Lane, off London Road, High Wycombe, has been closed both ways by police after two crashes, involving multiple vehicles, were reported within minutes of each other.
South Central Ambulance Service confirmed a man, aged around 40, sustained multiple life-threatening injuries at the scene of the crash, after his car had collided with a parked vehicle.
While treating him, staff at the scene were informed about another accident further up the road - SCAS said it appeared as though the same driver had crashed into another car previously, driven by an elderly couple, before his car then crashed into the parked vehicle.
He was taken in a life-threatening condition to John Radcliffe Hospital.
Ambulance services then treated the elderly couple at the scene before taking them to Stoke Mandeville Hospital for further treatment of what are believed to be minor injuries.
Bucks Fire confirmed they gave first aid and made the scene safe.
The road is expected to remain closed all afternoon, according to traffic links, and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
