Another of south Bucks’ popular parks has scooped the coveted Green Flag award – bringing the total across the county up to three.

Hughenden Park now joins The Rye in High Wycombe and Higginson Park in Marlow in achieving Green Flag status which is the gold standard for parks across the globe.

Higginson Park has retained its flag for the 14th year running and The Rye will proudly fly its flag again for the seventh consecutive year, placing them among the best parks in the world.

Wycombe District Council’s cabinet member for community, councillor Graham Peart, said: “We are delighted that Hughenden Park has joined The Rye and Higginson Park in getting the recognition it deserves, which is a beautiful and well managed park that residents, families and visitors to the district thoroughly enjoy.

“We know how much quality green spaces matter to our residents and visitors, and these awards not only celebrates the beauty of our parks but also highlights the dedication of the council and our contractor in maintaining them to such a high standard.”

Wycombe District Council – which manages the three parks - is celebrating a clean sweep after Hughenden Park scooped the award and was praised by judges for its beauty and maintenance.

The International Green Flag Award is run by Keep Britain Tidy and showcases parks which are maintained to the highest possible standards.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd, said: “Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.

“The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”
